UN: ‘Disturbing’ allegations of rape in Ethiopia’s Tigray conflict

The UN says it has received "disturbing" reports of sexual violence and abuse in Ethiopia's conflict-hit Tigray region, including of individuals forced to rape members of their own family.

Report: Ethiopia troops killed dozens following musician’s murder

Ethiopian police arrest Reuters’ cameraman

A Reuters cameraman, Kumerra Gemechu, was arrested in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa on Thursday, and will be kept in custody for at least two weeks, his family said.

Ethiopia will hold a parliamentary election on June 5, 2021, its National Electoral Board said on Friday, after postponing the vote from August this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fana TV: Ethiopian troops kill armed men behind deadly village attack

Ethiopian troops clashed with armed men involved in a deadly attack in the western Benishangul-Gumuz region, killing 42 of them and seizing bows and arrows and other weapons, state-affiliated Fana TV reported on Thursday.
Ethiopian authorities have proposed holding a postponed election in May or June 2021, state-affiliated broadcaster FANA said on Friday, setting the stage for a test of support for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's sweeping economic and political reforms.
