The federal government has filed a $1.1 billion suit against Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Eni and other companies for a 2011 Malabu oil deal saying it was tainted with corruption.
The trial of nine current and former executives or contractors from Italy’s Eni and British-Dutch giant Royal Dutch Shell, including ENI Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi, over a 1.3 billion dollars oil deal in Nigeria, will begin in Milan on June 20.
“If they don’t allow Etete to continue to do business in the oil and gas industry, Ijaw people will have no choice than to tell the country that the oil and gas belong to us. They should stop the investigations of the Malabu oil deal. OPL 245 belongs to an Ijaw man”.
