The Customs Service, Seme Border Area Command, says it has intercepted 875 bags of foreign parboiled rice and other goods, valued at N40m, in two weeks.
The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) intercepted 30,000 bags of foreign parboiled rice smuggled into the country from Benin Republic.
Smuggled items, including nine bulletproof Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and 11,000 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, with an approximate Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N2.02 billion, have been intercepted by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’, Ikeja of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Lagos, have arrested 12 smugglers in connection with 9,049 bags of foreign rice laden in 15 vehicles, exotic vehicles and other contraband valued at N1.34 billion. Within a month 14,565 bags of rice have been impounded by the unit in Lagos alone.
The Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’ Ikeja of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), intercepted contraband goods with Duty Paid Valued (DPV) of N5.96 billion between January and December 2017.
