Election observer group, the Centre for Transparency Advocacy (CTA), has said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shown the capacity for the incremental improvement in the management of elections in Nigeria.

A cross-section of voters in Saturday’s governorship election in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.

‎Barely two weeks to the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the State has vowed to stand against what it described as an intended time bomb and seeds of calamity being sowed by certain elements at the national level of the party, which if unchecked it said is capable of derailing the country’s democracy as well as breed insecurity in Edo State.

The verbal war between the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State ahead of the September 19, governorship election continued, yesterday, as the APC accused the PDP and its governorship candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki of engaging the services of a former senior staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, to rig the election.
