Two top judo stars kicked out of Olympics after going sightseeing around Tokyo

The sporting director of the German cycling federation has been told to return home from the Tokyo Olympics after making racist remarks during Wednesday's men's Olympic road time trial, the Germany team said on Thursday.

Apart from failing a drug test, breaking other Olympic rules could send athletes home from Tokyo, Japan.

Two top judo stars fell into that trap as they have been kicked out of the Olympics after breaking strict Covid rules.

According to The Sun, the pair were booted out of the event after they were discovered to have gone on a sightseeing tour around Tokyo.

The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee said Saturday a person involved in the games has been stripped of accreditation for leaving the athletes’ village to go sightseeing.

That is, of course, a major violation of its anti-Covid-19 rules.

It is the first time that a participant of the Olympics has been deprived of accreditation since the games began July 23.

Organising committee spokesman Masanori Takaya confirmed the news at a press briefing.

But the chief failed to provide any further details.

Promising that more details will be provided Sunday, Takaya declined to disclose any more information such as the nationality of the offender.

He also refused to state whether the persons were athletes or whether any others were involved.

Takaya said: “No one must leave the athletes’ village for the purpose of sightseeing.”

He also added that the decision was made on Friday.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, athletes and all other Olympic credential holders are required to strictly follow the Covid-19 ‘playbook’ rules.

Several reports state that the nationality of the two persons who have been kicked out is Georgian and both are male.

However, no official confirmation has yet been made.

Takaya did promise to provide more information on the incident Sunday.
