Flying Eagles at the U20 WAFU Cup in Togo

The Flying Eagles will be sent packing from this year’s WAFU Cup in Togo today should they lose to perennial rivals Ghana in a final Group B match.

The Nigeria U20s, who have been forced to make several changes to their team due to an age rule for this competition, could only hold group leaders Niger to a scoreless draw at the weekend.

Niger, who pipped Ghana 1-0 in their opening group game, have already booked their passage to the knockout rounds of the tournament as they now have four points.

The other semifinal ticket will be between rivals Nigeria and Ghana after Benin Republic pulled out of the competition.

The Flying Eagles need only a draw to go through, but they face a difficult task against a Ghanaian side, whose poor finishing cost them the game against Niger.

Both teams are using this competition to gauge their readiness for the 2019 U20 AFCON in Niger in February.
