Tottenham ‘strongly condemn’ three players for breaking coronavirus rules

Tottenham have condemned Giovani Lo Celso, Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon after the trio got together with their families over Christmas, breaking UK lockdown rules.

Tottenham have condemned three of their players after they were pictured together with their families on Christmas Day.

An image of Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini did the rounds on social media over the weekend, which reportedly showed the four in the same household over Christmas.

That is against the Government guidelines which strictly forbid anyone in London mixing with another household.

And now Spurs have come out against their own players for breaking COVID-19 regulations.

“We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas, particularly as we know the sacrifices everybody around the country made to stay safe over the festive period,” they said in a statement.

“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to adhere and set an example. The matter will be dealt with internally.”

Tottenham are due to face Leeds at 12.30 GMT.
