Nigeria’s new defender Kevin Akpoguma helped his club Hoffenheim to record an emphatic 4 – 1 win over Bayern Munich in a Bundesliga clash played at PreZero Arena in Sinsheim, Baden-Wurttemberg, on Sunday.

Akpoguma who was deployed in the right wing-back position was impressive all through the encounter as he neutralized the threats of Leroy Sane and Alfonso Davies down the left.

A brace from Croatia forward Andrej Kramaric, goals from Mu’nas Dabbur and Ermin Bičakčić was enough to Hoffenheim stopped Bayern Munich 32 matched unbeaten run in all competitions.

In his reactions after the game, Hoffenheim boss Sebastian Hoeneß said he’s delighted with how his Akpoguma and his teammates approached the game.

“We wanted to act very courageously and aggressively straight away,” Hoffenheim head coach Sebastian Hoeneß was quoted as saying by Tsg-hoffenheim.de.

“But we didn’t get in well. We then fought our way into it very well and are also 2-0 up. Unfortunately, the connection hit came out of nowhere. The team reacted incredibly to that. It was not easy.

“We got behind the chain a lot and also made it 3-1 from a situation like that. We are incredibly happy today. It was a tremendous team effort. The win shows that we are on the right track. That we are leaders in the table doesn’t mean anything. ” he said.

Hoffenheim are leading the table after two matches and they will be desperate to repeat the success next week against Eintracht Frankfurt.
