The newly appointed Team Manager of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, Seun Betiku, says welfare of the players will be his priority.
Betiku stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Akure.
The team manager promised to bring private investors that would finance the team to reduce its burden on government.
Betiku said he was also planning to meet with stakeholders in the state to form a synergy that would help the team in the coming season.
He revealed that the club had retained about 20 players inherited from the former crew.
He added that the team would resume training soon as part of preparations towards the coming season.
“First, I want to look into the welfare of the players and officials which is my priority, to know and see how I can give them the best they deserve.
“I know the state alone cannot finance the team to its utmost best, so I have been talking to some highly placed individuals and corporate organisations within and outside the state to support us.
“I want to meet with all football stakeholders in the state and beyond to brainstorm, and let them see reasons why they have to give their utmost support to Sunshine Stars.
“The team will resume by next week certainly after a little spell in Akure, we will move into a close camping for two weeks or thereabout,’’ he said.
Betiku appealed for understanding and support from the club fans across the state.
“The most important message is that we are urging all the good people of Ondo State to give us their maximum support.
“I am pretty sure we are going to deliver,” he said.
The new NPFL season begin on Dec. 1.
