Super Eagles forward Nwankwo Simeon has refused to confirm if he is leaving Crotone at the end of the season after admitting his happiness at the moment.
Nwankwo netted his 20th league goal of the season in Crotone’s 1-1 pausalting draw against Benevento on Sunday.
The 29-year-old is Nigeria’s leading scorer in Europe’s top five league and the second African player to have scored 20 plus goals in a single season in the Serie A, after Samuel Eto’o.
Speaking to the press after the match, the Super Eagles striker however refused to drop any hint on his future.
“I’ve been in Italy for five years, the toughest league in the worldfor a striker. Crotone is a fantastic place, the people and club havegiven me everything and this is the best moment of my career.
“I think now the time has come to give even more.” he told pre match conference.
Crotone’s poor campaign saw them relegated to the Serie B, but Nwankwo remain the shinning light from the club with his incredible runs of in front of goal.
The lanky forward stressed further by assuring the fans that the club will bounce back from the setback.
“What I can assure the fans is that this team never put their feet up, never shirked responsibility.
“In football the result isn’t always what you want, but in the end we take responsibility for everything and know that if we’re in the bottom three, that is also partly our own fault.” he said.
