The race for the 2018-2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title heightened on Monday at the Agege Stadium in Lagos after Match Day 4 action.

Niger Tornadoes and Gombe United have gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League after they played out a 0-0 draw at the Nigeria National League Super 8 competition yesterday in Enugu.

Tornadoes finished top of Group A with five points after one win and two draws from three games. The Ikon Allah Boys will compete in the final of the competition on Sunday.

Gombe United finished in the second position on the same point, but have an inferior goal difference.

El-kanemi Warriors missed out on promotion to the NPFL despite edging out DMD 4-0 in the other Group A fixture.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Niger Tornadoes Mallam Adamu Aliu has congratulated the Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna for their return to the NPFL.

“We have gone through a lot and thank God, we got a well-deserving promotion to the NPFL, the team has lived up to expectations. I want to thank everyone for their support and we are all proud of what this team has achieved,” he said.

He further promised to give the team the necessary support to enable them to remain at the NPFL.

“We are going to stay up for a long time because that’s where belong, we will do our best to stay at the top”.
