Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have both tested positive for Covid-19.
Manchester City confirmed in a club statement that the pair have contracted the virus and are now undergoing a period of self-isolation.
The statement read: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Both players are currently observing a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
“Neither is displaying symptoms of the virus.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their return to training and the new season.”
The pair will have to undergo 14 days of quarantine meaning they could be doubtful to feature in City’s opening Premier League fixture of the 2020/21 season.
Pep Guardiola’s side start their campaign away to Wolves on September 21.
