Louis van Gaal has made a return to football management to take over the Dutch national team.

He has signed a contract until the end of the 2022 World Cup.

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has not managed a team since Manchester United replaced him with José Mourinho in 2016.

This is Van Gaal’s third spell in charge of the national team after he previously took charge from 2000-2002 and 2014-2016.

He replaces Frank de Boer, who left his position after a disappointing Euro 2020 exit to the Czech Republic.
