Quique Setién has insisted that Lionel Messi has not mentioned anything about leaving Barcelona at the end of the season.
Following Barça’s 2-2 draw with Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, there have been various reports in the following days that Messi has decided to leave the club when his contract expires in 2021.
With all not appearing to be well behind the scenes at the Camp Nou, there seems to be fear building that the 33-year-old could be ready to end his 20-year spell with the club.
However, Setién has not heard anything from Messi himself to suggest there is something to the reports.
“I am not going to speculate on this because I have not heard him say anything about it and it is not my job,” the head coach said in his pre-match conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with Villarreal.
“He looks well to me, Leo.
“The rest is speculation that does not even enter my consideration.
“I see him training well, nothing more.”
