Gareth Bale says he “grew up” during his time with Real Madrid and has “no regrets” having departed the Spanish club to return to Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho was reportedly furious with Gareth Bale’s Instagram post which came on their way to Merseyside for Wednesday night’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Everton.

Bale was left out of Spurs 5-4 defeat to Everton at the Goodison Park, with Mourinho claiming after the match that the winger “was not comfortable” with a muscular issue.

The Wales international seemingly made himself unavailable for the game through injury but posted an image on Intagram with the message “good session today”.

According to The Mirror, the Tottenham manager was ‘fuming’ with Bale’s social media activity, which appeared to suggest that the Welshman had simply not been chosen for the FA Cup fixture.

The former Southampton youngster returned to Spurs last summer, having been made surplus to requirements by Madrid.

Bale has been unable to show his best form for the London club, though, scoring just four times in 15 appearances in all competitions, while he has only played 70 minutes of Premier League football since December 20.
