Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has revealed why Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Algeria in Sunday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals game at Cairo International Stadium.

Garba Lawal has called on Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to help build the confidence of players in the domestic league.

Lawal said the league has quality players no matter how bad the coach may have perceived the products in the league but wants a change in his estimation of players in the Nigeria league by putting trust in their abilities as he continues to lead the Senior national team of Nigeria after reaching a contractual agreement.

“You cannot tell me the whole domestic league we don’t have good players that is not true, no matter how bad you must have one player that is good. But it depends on the coach, it depends on the confidence the coach gives the players.

“If he believes in those players they will excel. It was just like our time in the local league, we that even had small sizes, if the coach doesn’t have confidence in us, we won’t have the chance to play. It’s a matter of trust between the coaches and the players.”
