Fernando Llorente is back in football after agreeing to join Spanish second division side Eibar on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old had been without a club following his release from Italian outfit Udinese in August.

However, the striker underwent a medical at Eibar on Wednesday and is now set to sign for them until the end of the season.

‘Eibar has reached an agreement in principle with Fernando Llorente for the incorporation of the Riojan striker until the end of the season, at the expense of passing the medical examination,’ the club said in a short statement.

‘The player is currently undergoing various medical tests at IMQ, the official Medical Insurer of the gunsmith club.

‘In the next few hours, the information will be expanded.’

The former Swansea, Tottenham and Juventus striker has scored 178 career goals in 601 games and will be hoping to add to that tally in his new surroundings at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.

Eibar currently sits second in the Segunda Division, one point behind Almeria, as they look to make an instant return to LaLiga following last season’s relegation.
