Fans arrested for assaulting match officials in Bauchi – LMC

The League Management Company, organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League, has confirm that three fans have been arrested in connection with throwing objects at match officials during the matchday-33 game between Wikki Tourist and Rangers International which ended in a 1-1 draw in Bauchi.‎

The fans arrested by the Nigerian Police Force are Mohammed Isa (35), Hamisu Mohammed (30) and Yola Ishaya aka Chara (24).

Commenting on the decision via a lengthy statement posted on it’s official Twitter account, the LMC wrote that the culprits will be arraigned in court shortly.

“LMC is monitoring the development, and Wikki Tourist management is cooperating with the police in Bauchi.

“3 persons arrested in connection with throwing objects at match officials for #WIKRAN in Bauchi are to be arraigned in court shortly,” the the LMC tweeted.

“They’re being held at the GRA Police Station, Bauchi for attacking #NPFL match officials in the Wikki vs Rangers game on Sunday.

“The arrested persons are Mohammed Isa (35), Hamisu Mohammed (30), Yola Ishaya aka Chara (24). All of Wunty Street, Bauchi.

“Chara was identified as the suspect who threw an object at the 2nd assistant ref that led to halting of the match in the first half.

“The other two, Isa & Hamisu were alleged to have attacked #NPFL match officials while they were being escorted out of the stadium.”
