1. Former African champions, Super Eagles, were held to a scoreless draw by the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in the Africa Cup of Nations 2022 qualifier in Freetown on Tuesday.

SCR Altach of Austria winger, Chinedu Obasi, has expressed a strong wish that Nigeria’s national team, Super Eagles will get out­standing results in all their matches next year, as he wishes better luck for them than they have had in 2020.

While using the Super Eagles’ recent capitulation against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, when the Ni­geria side gave up a 4-0 lead in their Africa Cup of Na­tions (AFCON) qualifier at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadi­um, Benin City, and settled for a 4-4 draw.Obasi, who became the first Nigerian to play at all levels of FIFA’s major global competitions when he starred for the Su­per Eagles at South Africa 2010 World Cup – having previously starred at the Under-17 version in 2003, Under-20 in 2005 and Olym­pic Games (U23) in 2008 – conceded that 2020 has not been the best for the squad in a sport radio programme monitored in Lagos.

The 34-year-old former Lyn Oslo of Norway, TSG Hoffenheim and Schalke 04 of Germany as well as AIK of Sweden star, however ad­vised coach, Gernot Rohr to strengthen the team with well-exposed and experi­enced players.
