Chelsea are in the race to sign Villarreal defender Pau Torres as a possible replacement for Antonio Rudiger.
The Spanish centre-half is emerging as a key target for several clubs around Europe.
According to 90Min, the Blues are the latest team to register an interest in Torres, after their failure to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla in the recently passed summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old Spaniard was outstanding for Villarreal last term as they won the Europa League, beating Manchester United in the final.
The Red Devils are another team with a longstanding interest in Torres, but they did not put in any offer for the defender last summer.
Rudiger has yet to agree a contract extension with the Blues, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich want the German stopper, and Torres could replace him at Stamford Bridge.
