Carabao Cup final to be played in front of fans at Wembley

The 2021 Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will be allowed to hold 8,000 spectators in attendance.

The event has been confirmed by the UK Government as an official test event for the Events Research Programme meaning Wembley will be able to have fans back in the ground for the final on April 25.

A statement on the EFL website read: “Having worked extensively with relevant stakeholders, the EFL can confirm that a proportion of tickets will be made available to finalist clubs, meaning fans from each side will be able to cheer on their teams, marking a welcome return of club supporters to English football.”

The rest of the tickets will be made available to local residents and NHS staff.

Leicester City’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa on March 9 2020 was the last game to be played in front of a capacity crowd in England.
