Bruno Fernandes has called for calm on the back of Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, with the Portuguese pointing out that the Red Devils “were not the best before and are not the worst now”.

Bruno Fernandes has warned his Manchester United team-mates they “can’t make the same mistakes anymore” after they were beaten by rivals Manchester City in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final.

Goals from John Stones and Fernandinho at Old Trafford condemned United to their third semi-final defeat since Fernandes joined the club last January.

And posting to his official Instagram on Thursday evening, the Portuguese playmaker expressed his disappointment at the club’s latest set-back.

“I’m very sad and disappointed to once again don’t reach a final,” wrote the former Sporting CP man.

“We have a lot to fight yet but we have to learn and understand that we can’t make the same mistakes anymore.

“We need to make an effort to further improve and be able to fight for trophies!”

United will begin another quest to win a trophy when they take on Championship side Watford in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
