L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side PSG are hoping to announce the contract extension of 29-year-old Brazilian attacker Neymar, in a new deal that would run until 2027, before the 1st leg of their upcoming Champions’ League semi-final clash with Manchester City.

Neymar’s current contract with PSG expires in 2022, although the French club are trying to convince him to extend it beyond this date. The player hasn’t signed anything just yet.

Barcelona have other plans for him. Since his departure in the summer of 2017, the Camp Nou have missed their Brazilian star. So much so that the the new directive at the club have gone to work to try and bring him back – at least, this is what ‘RAC1’ reports.

According to this source, Barca president Joan Laporta has already made his move to try and convince Neymar to return home. He called PSG owner Al-Khelaifi directly to discuss the future of the attacker.

Barcelona haven’t only contacted PSG. The Catalan side have also spoken to Neymar himself to show their interest. The attacker could be interested in returning to the Camp Nou once more.

In France, however, they refuse to consider a future without Neymar. Barca’s first contact with the French club wasn’t entirely positive. According to ‘RAC1’, PSG refused to let Neymar go, which is what they informed Barcelona.

But this initial setback hasn’t made Barca give up hope. This source reports that the Catalan side are optimistic. They see Neymar’s return as viable and, in addition, believe that they can sign him back for less than what the French club have asked for in previous transfer markets.
