Defending champions the Olympic Eagles of Nigeria got off their campaign at the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations on a dour note following a 1-0 loss to Cote d’Ivoire at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo, on Saturday evening.

Member of the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee Babagana Kali has stated that the NFF will give the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr all the backings and support necessary for him to succeed and do better than his first contractual engagement.

Kali speaking in a chat with newsmen said the NFF has forwarded the amended contract to the coach and all that is needed is for him to agree with terms and conditions and return and have the formalities completed once all parties have consented to the terms of the contract.

“We want him to achieve more than what he has done before and as such we are still hoping and praying for him to achieve a level where Nigerians will be happy in terms of football. Once Nigerian football family is happy, the NFF too will be happy. Now the contract paper has been forwarded to him. Then he is going to return it and sign.”
