Super Falcons

Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby hopes his side will keep improving and produce their best performance so far at the 2018 African Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana when they face Equatorial Guinea in a Group B encounter on Saturday in Cape Coast.

The defending champions started their campaign in the competition on a disappointing note going down to a 1-0 defeat to the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

But they bounced back in an emphatic fashion in their next game thrashing the Shepolopolo of Zambia 4-0, thanks to goals from Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Rasheedat Ajibade and Amarachi Okoronkwo.

Equatorial Guinea are already eliminated from the tournament after suffering heavy defeats to Zambia and South Africa.

The former champions fell to a 5-0 defeat to Zambia in their first game and were totally pulverised 7-1 by South Africa in the second.

The Super Falcons need to beat Equatorial Guinea to be sure of a place in the last four.

“We hope to keep getting better and better. We hope to have our best performance so far tomorrow (Saturday).” Dennerby stated during his pre-match conference on Friday ahead of the game.

“We are not doing any changes. We are working on as we have done from the beginning. Going to training sessions to prepare the team, have pre/post match meetings and watch videos of the others, so we know how to play and so on.”

Dimunitive midfielder Rita Chikwelu also reiterates the team’s desire to secure the maximum points against the Nzalang Nacional.

“We are ready to pick the maximum points against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.” Chikwelu stated.

The game will kick-off at 4pm Nigerian time at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast.
