Wikki Tourist coach Aliyu Zubairu says his desire to succeed will help him deliver at the Nigeria professional football league side and believes the management doesn’t have to set a target before him before he feels the pressure to deliver.
Zubairu was an assistant to Coach Abdul Maikaba back at Akwa United but he left take the number role at the Bauchi based club after Maikaba left for Plateau United.
While speaking at the 2018 Ahlan pre-season tournament in Kano where his will take on Kano Pillars in the semi-final, Zubairu said he doesn’t need the management to set a target before the team, because he’s an ambitious person.
“It’s not as if the management gave me a target but I have set a personal target, I believe that every ambitious person will always want to compete no matter the situation and with the pedigree of my players even though they don’t have same ambition I have always put it in their mind that I don’t coach a team that doesn’t have ambition so they must go same line with me”.
On the 2018 Ahlan pre-season tour, he praised the organisers for the improvement in this year’s edition.
”The tournament has been good, there is much improvement. Last edition, there were one or two hitches but you can see that they have corrected most of the problems we encountered in the last edition when I was with Akwa United, so there is much improvement in this year’s competition,” he added
