John Ogu is pleased to have played a part in helping the Super Eagles qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

Ogu made his second appearance for the Super Eagles in the qualifying series playing all 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-1 away draw against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The draw sealed Nigeria’s place in in the 2019 AFCON tournament after missing the last two editions in 2015 and 2017.

The 30 year old Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder also reckons that Nigeria’s qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is one positive fallout from the match despite the result.

“I’m super Happy with our qualification to the AFCON. I understand our fans want our A1 game in every games,” Ogu tweeted.

“The only positive out here is the fact that we have Qualified for the AFCON. Thank you to our fans all over the world . 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬.”

An easy tap in from Lebo Mothiba in the 26th minute earned hosts South Africa a share of the spoils from the matchday 5 encounter after an own goal from Buhle Mkhwanazi in the ninth minute had shot the Super Eagles into the lead.

Nigeria will face Seychelles in their final Group E game in March 2019.
