Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has praised the improvement of Bursaspor and Nigeria international defender William Troost-Ekong judging by his performance yesterday.
Ekong was solid at the rear for Nigeria in their 1-1 draw against Algeria yesterday, a form which helped him keep Leicester City forward Islam Slimani in check during the game.
Speaking after the game, Taribo said Balogun has improved from the last time he played for Nigeria, and his continual growth from game to game will sure make him a complete defender in the nearest future.
“He (Ekong) did well yesterday, he was equal to almost everything thrown at him. He has this thing about him, he improves one aspect of his game from time to time. His timing were spot on yesterday,” West said.
“Pace has always been his strength but he has now added well timed tackles and as usual very solid in the air, and maybe he is now far comfortable on the ball than before. He plays with so much confidence, he is on the path to becoming a complete defender if he maintains his growth.”
