Three workers have been killed and another three injured when a stadium in southern China collapsed during demolition work.
Four people were rescued from the rubble after the Shenzhen Stadium collapsed just before midday on Monday – but three of them died later in hospital.
Two other workers suffered bone fractures after being hit by debris.
According to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, thepart of the venue that collapsed had previously been used as a basketball court but was being renovated.
Most of the interior had been torn down, apart from a few pillars supporting the roof.
Work to upgrade the stadium began last year.
With capacity for a crowd of 6,000 and outdated lighting and sound equipment, the stadium was not suitable for international events.
The venue had been funded and built by the Shenzhen government in 1985 and the upgrade was expected to be finished by 30 June 2020.
