The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is to kick-start his campaign for the 2019 presidential election through an address to Nigerians on Facebook on Monday.

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has paid glowing tribute to former Vice-President and Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as he clocks 72, describing him as an embodiment of courage and patriotism.

In a congratulatory message he personally signed, Dogara extolled the virtues of the Waziri of Adamawa as “a charismatic, charitable and sagacious politician who has invested heavily in the service of democracy and the Nigerian project.”

The Speaker described Atiku as an ideal leader Nigeria yearns for at the moment, considering his vast experience, cosmopolitan disposition and pedigree, expressing confidence that his emergence as PDP presidential candidate is a harbinger for a better tomorrow.

He said, “You (Atiku) are indeed a democratic icon and philanthropist par excellence, with remarkable dexterity and uncommon sagacity, courage and capacity, who is well prepared and poised to take Nigeria out of the woods.

“Over the years, you have proven and distinguished yourself as a true democrat and an icon with sound democratic credentials, who inspires hope in the hopeless. You are indeed a role model who mentors and inspires young and upcoming leaders as well as provide opportunities for the youths through the establishment of schools, cottage industries and other manufacturing concerns across the country. And there is no better way of proving your belief and conviction in the Nigerian nation than this.

“As you mark your 72nd birthday, this is to wish Your Excellency God’s guidance, protection, and sound health to continue rendering invaluable services to the nation and humanity.”
