The grip of Governor Nyesome Wike on Rivers State politics may be loosening as a member of the House of Representatives, Chisom Dike, swapped the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the broom of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was contained in a letter directed to the House via the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In the letter read by Gbajabiamila on Thursday, Dike stated that the constant crisis in the PDP prompted his decision to defect to the APC.
He also said the leadership of the Speaker aided his decision to defect.
Defection from the PDP to APC has almost become a weekly occurrence in the House of Representatives.
Before the annual recess, about 10 lawmakers from Zamfara and Cross River states defected to the APC from the PDP.
The latest defection may be unconnected to the protracted fight between Wike and PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus.
