Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Monday urged Nigerians not to fall into deceptions of President Muhammdu Buhari and his party (APC) in their to seek second term.-4

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization has described as untrue the claim that South-East governors shunned the party rally in Sokoto State.

Recall that on Monday the party kicked off its zonal campaign from Sokoto State.

The party dismissed reports by a section of the media that governors elected on the platform of the party from the South-East geopolitical zone were absent at the party’s rally in Sokoto on Monday because they had no support for the aspiration of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The campaign organisation said that such insinuations smacked of ignorance and mischief on the part of those peddling it.

The Director, Media & Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, Kola Ologbondiyan, explained yesterday that the Sokoto Presidential Zonal rally was for the North West geopolitical zone and would be replicated in the remaining five geopolitical zones of the country.

The campaign organisation said there was no sense in the insinuation since, going by the campaign time-table, the presidential candidate would visit all the zones where all the governors elected on the platform of the party from those zones would be present.

“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s next port of call would be Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on wednesday where the party would hold the North Central presidential zonal rally which would have in attendance state governors, leaders, members, and supporters of the party in the zone.

“This is the same arrangement that we have for all the geopolitical zones of the country,” it said.

The party said the so-called shunning of the Sokoto rally by PDP governors of South-East extraction was only a figment of the imagination of those peddling the wicked rumour.

It wondered why certain elements had decided to peddle falsehood about the PDP and its flag bearer just to score cheap political points.

The party said such negative reports about the PDP and Atiku were being sponsored by those who had become jittery at the rising profile of its presidential candidate.

“But we are undaunted because Nigerians are very discerning. In the fullness of time, the lies and those behind them would be exposed,” it said.
