The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Muhammadu Buhari that complexity of office and not ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was responsible for the delay in constituting his cabinet.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu, had said in a television programme that Jonathan’s delay, by 48 hours, to handover to Buhari, caused the delay in the composition of federal cabinet.
But, the PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the presidency will always resort to peddling falsehood as a cover for its failures.
“It is a settled matter that President Buhari could not form a cabinet for over five months after his inauguration, primarily due to sheer incompetence, lack of preparedness and the fact that he was overwhelmed by the complexity of the office of the President of Nigeria,” the party said.
It reminded President Buhari that the Transition Committee, headed by Ahmed Joda, had in May 2015, publicly dispelled as false and diversionary, the statement that the previous administration was not cooperating with it.
PDP said President Buhari has disdain for ministers, noting that in September 2015, he described ministers as “noise makers.”
The party advised the presidency to note that peddling falsehood and blaming the previous administration for its failures will not help it in the 2019 general elections.
