An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has adjourned till June 16, 2020, the hearing in the trial of a chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dennis Alonge-Niyi and three others for alleged attempted murder.
The other three accused persons in the trial are Tobi Akinjogunla, Ebenezer Adejuyo and Sunday Olajuwaomo.
They were arraigned in court on a seven-count charge among which are alleged attempted murder of one Michael Alonge, stealing and malicious damage in Afo, Ose Local Government Area of the state.
At the resumed hearing of the case, Jide Ajana SAN, the defence attorney, called three witnesses; Lasisi Ogunluyi, Esther Abegunde and Friday Abegunde, who gave evidence to exonerate the four respondents of complicity in the charges preferred against them.
Mr. Tolu Babaleye, the prosecuting attorney, who cross examined the witnesses called by the defence attorney, later amended the earlier six-count charge to seven.
The prosecuting attorney eventually closed his case to prove the culpability of Dennis Alonge and the other three accused persons.
However, the presiding judge, Justice Samuel Ademola Bola, adjourned the case till June 16, 2020 for further hearing.
The accused persons were earlier remanded in prison before they were granted bail pending the determination of the case.
