Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Wednesday, declared their support for the candidacy of Dapo Abiodun as the party’s governorship flag-bearer and promised to deliver massive votes to ensure victory for him in 2019 election.
They made this declaration at a solidarity rally held in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, in support for the national leadership of APC, which declared Abiodun as the winner of the governorship primary election in the state.
Addressing the party faithful, the trio of Idowu Solaru, Mohammed Olaitan and Oyenuga Ayomide, respectively described Abiodun as an experienced politician capable of turning around the state if voted as the governor.
They noted that despite moves in some quarters to reverse Abiodun’s emergence, APC in Ikenne local government area, remained solidly behind him and also endorsed him as the standard bearer of the party in 2019.
In his remark, Solaru urged the entire party members in the local government to mobilize the people and canvass for votes for Abiodun to ensure his victory at the polls.
He condemned what he termed “sponsored protests” against Abiodun’s candidacy and urged the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to accept the outcome of the primary in the interest of the party in particular and the state in general.
“It is on note that members of the party across the state voted for Abiodun to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate. The result of the election was announced by the National Working Committee given the mandate to conduct the election. The election was properly conducted. Abiodun is the man for the job.
“We must appreciate our governor for transforming the state. He should be rest assured that Abiodun will continue from where he has stopped. We are appealing to him to support Abiodun,” Solaru said.
Collaborating Solaru’s position, Olaitan and Oyenuga in their remarks, said party members in the council area would use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote for Abiodun.
