Jude Idimogu, member representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 2 at Lagos House of Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and other candidates across political lines in Lagos of Igbo extraction, have received the endorsement of Ndigbo United Association (NUA), a social cultural pressure group that champions the course of Igbo people.
The endorsement took place during the end of year party of the group at its secretariat in Lagos, and it was an avenue for all the candidates seeking elections into House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly across party lines to be officially introduced to members of the association.
Addressing journalists at the event, Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, president of NUA, noted that the association decided to unveil its preferred candidates across party lines for the 2019 general election.
He said, “This is to limit inimical conflicts associated with split votes, which could give undue advantage to our adversaries. It has always been the hallmark of NUA over the years to have consensus candidates across party lines, so as to optimize our political strength, and 2019 won’t be an exception.”
Idimogu, who would be seeking re-election into Lagos House of Assembly for a second term, told journalists that his scorecard was there for everyone to see, noting that he was there for the first term and had so much to show in terms of achievements, and having garnered experiences over the years, he wanted to perfect what he had done in the first term.
He advised Igbo people to be serious in the game of politics, noting that if they wanted policies that would affect their businesses positively, they should be actively involved in politics, balance their membership of the two dominant parties, pointing out that power was never given, they should struggle, fight to get relevant politically.
Chioma Femi-Ferguson, who is seeking election into Surulere Federal Constituency 2, on the platform of Action National Party (ANP), said she is a grassroots politician having acquainted herself with her constituents for over three decades.
PDP candidate for Oshodi/Isolo federal constituency 2, Emmanuel Nnodim, said he wants go to National Assembly to liberate his constituency because the ruling party had failed.
