The anticipated reconciliation in the South-West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be hanging in the balance as Senator Buruji Kashamu and his supporters in the zone shunned the zone’s stakeholders meeting on Monday.
The stakeholders meeting, which drew leaders of the PDP from the six states of the South-West was convened at Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The meeting is expected to harmonise the South-West position ahead of the party’s mini-convention on Saturday in Abuja.
Kashamu, who was a prominent member of the Ali Modu Sheriff’s group that lost at the Supreme Court in July, has vowed not to dump the PDP. Other conspicuous absentees from the Kashamu’s group are former National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo; Board of Trustee Member, Chief Mrs. Aduke Maina, among others.
Those present at the stakeholders meeting include the governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose; former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; Senator Iyiola Omisore, Chief Olabode George, Senator Femi Lanlehin, former Ogun State deputy governor, Alhaja Salmot Badru; Senator Ayo Adeseun, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, Bode George, Akintoye, Omisore, Jegede, Wole Oyelese, Femi Lanlehin, Mulikat, Fayose, Ayo Adeseun, Hosea Agboola, Ayoade and Bose Adebiyi among others.
