In a dramatic twist of fate, former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Alhaji Abdulmumuni Jibrin Kofa of the ruling All Progressives Congress weekend crashed out of the National Assembly following a loss to his arch-rival, Ali Datti Yako of the People’s Democratic Party.
In a keenly contested election that witnessed a large turnout of voters on Saturday, Jibrin Kofa had raised alarm over what he claimed was “irregularities” perpetrated by anti-democratic forces” in his constituency.
Professor Abdullahi Arabi, the Returning Officer Kiru and Bebeji re-run election while declaring the final results said no fewer than twenty (20) political parties contested during the rerun.
Professor Arabi disclosed that Ali Datti Yako of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 48,641 votes, while Abdulmumuni Jibrin Kofa of All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 13,507 votes.
The Returning officer stated that “Ali Datti Yako, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby returned as duly elected “
