Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday said Lagos State will get two governors in one with him and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, in the saddle.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Lagos on whether he can have a good working relationship with Hamzat who is also a politician and has governorship ambition, Sanwo-Olu said his friendship with Hamzat had come a long way and he would probably had become his Chief of Staff if he (Hamzat) had become the APC governorship candidate four years ago.
“Ours will be governance for every citizens, not for only those that voted for us or didn’t vote for you. It is not governance that will begin to look at religion, ethnic or political differences. It is governance for everybody. So, the moment you join politics, it is to roll up your sleeves and govern and ensure that you govern well. That is what we are going to do.
“When Femi Hamzat was contesting in 2015, I told people that he is my friend. He is one of the few cabinet members that I go to his house regularly. If he had been chosen as the candidate of APC then, I told people that I could have become his Chief of Staff. But today he is my running mate and I am sure he is going to be a good, loyal and dependable deputy.”
“Yes, Lagos State is going to get two governors in one and I am happy to say that we will work together for the good of the state,” he said.
