Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, a youth group affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to return to the party.
According to a report, the youths under the auspices of APC Youth Coalition for Effective Progress made the statement at a press conference in Kaduna state.
The APC youth coalition for effective progress has urged Saraki and Atiku to return to the pa The group also called on Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state and Dino Melaye among other politicians that left the party to return.
Iliyasu Ibrahim Makinta, the coordinator of the group said the return of the politicians to the party will strengthen it in its moves towards building a progressive Nigeria. He commended the APC national chairman caretaker committee chairman, Mai Mala Buni for winning back the former speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara back to the party.
Makinta passed a vote of confidence on the caretaker committee of the APC led by Buni. The group appealed to members of the party to show support for the Buni-led committee.
Meanwhile, the recent return of Yakubu Dogara to the APC is reportedly unsettling the leadership of the House of Representatives. A report by newsmen states that the defection of the former speaker from the PDP is “creating fresh tension around power equation in the lower chamber”.
The newspaper states that Dogara’s defection was well planned to achieve some certain political motives.
In another news report, in a bid to better further and promote his social and political activities, a former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has launched a new television station, Atiku TV.
The launch of the digital medium for the former vice president’s campaign was carried out in Kano state on Wednesday, August 12.
Speaking on behalf of Atiku during the grand event, Hajiya Baraka Sani, a former commissioner for agriculture in the state, said the station is a new approach that “will change Atiku’s mode of reaching out to people from analogue to digital, henceforth.
