Sen. Ayogu Eze, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has cautioned Nigerian youths against being used by politicians as thugs to cause violence during and after the 2019 general elections.
Eze made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.
He charged the youths to be agents of change and crusaders for good governance and development of the country.
“Use your Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to enthrone God fearing leaders in Enugu and in the country in 2019.
“Participate actively in the 2019 elections, and avoid the acts of violence and the temptation to being used as thugs.
“You must be very careful in all your activities and make sure you are not involved, or become tools in the hands of evil people’’.
The senator also urged the youths to be focused on what should be their contributions to the political development of the country.
“They must awaken their consciousness to what their roles should be in the electoral process for them to take their rightful position in the politics of Nigeria.
“Youths should involve themselves in responsible and challenging actions that will give them the opportunity to participate in planning and decision making,’’ he advised.
He noted that the role of youths in the electoral process could not be over-emphasised as they constituted the largest percentage of the electorate.
“They must be actively involved as they determine the future of the nation”, he said.
