Sheikh Yakubu Musa-Katsina, the leader of the Izala Islamic sect in Katsina state, has called on his members to unconditionally support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Aminu Masari in the forthcoming general elections.
The cleric made the declaration in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Sunday.
Buhari’s closest rival is Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Musa-Katsina said the religious body had formed seven formidable committees that would continue to sensitise members to the imperative of re-electing the duo of Buhari and Masari.
According to him, the religious body has a voter-strength of 2.5 million, stressing that majority of this number had their permanent voter cards handy.
He said the administration of President Buhari had brought back the lost glory of Nigeria, especially in the international community.
Musa-Katsina added that the respect accorded to Nigerians travelling internationally was unprecedented.
He described the coming of Buhari as great salvation to Nigeria and posterity, stressing about 85 per cent of the country’s road infrastructure before the Buhari administration were in comatose state.
According to him, the instances of security breach being recorded in some parts of the country were the handiwork of mischief makers and called for fervent prayers, patriotism and selflessness to achieve a greater nation.
