Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared that all sensitive materials for poll has left the vault of Central Bank of Nigeria, in Benin City.
The commission which met Thursday to review preparations for the Edo State election and other coming elections including the Ondo State governorship election and October 31st By-election in about 8 states said agents of the political parties were involved in distribution of materials.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Barrister Festus Okoye, in a statement also implored the relevant stakeholders to continue observation of the distribution of materials to the Registration Area Centers (RACs)
On Ondo the commission disclosed that because of the COVID 19 pandemic , it could not register the full complement of National Youth Service Corp members needed as ad-hoc staff .
Okoye said the NYSC authorities however informed the Commission that “they are now in a position to mobilize more corps members for the Ondo State Governorship Election”, adding that the commission has resolved to open a special link in its recruitment portal for this Corp members.
