The Action Democratic Party (ADP), has commended the Edo State electorates, for their doggedness in defending their State from intruders, who planned to play god, by instructing them on who not to vote for.
ADP in its remark after the conclusion of EDO governorship election, on Sunday, said thst the Edo election appeared to be a freer than some previous stand alone elections, like the Kogi, Osun and Ekiti elections.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Prince Adelaja Adeoye, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the party affirmed it’s position, not to back down on its court case against the embattled candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Pastor Ize-Iyamu, his Deputy Ganiyu, and the party over forgery of names on the documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
While commending its candidate, Emmanuel Iboi, for being a courageous young man, who against all odds, tried and had a good showing, the party encouraged him to keep up the fighting spirit, because he was one of those who wwould still help to liberate the State from the stronghold of those who would want to hold the State in captivity.
The party also commend the Oba of Benin, HRM Omo N’ Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, for his fatherly role, before the election for warning all participating political party, leaders and their supporters, not to ferment trouble. It stressed that the advise if the monarch helped a great measure for the peaceful conduct of the election.
The statement reads, “It will be equally important to note for the emphasis that INEC, security agencies, and other contigents, deployed to Edo State carried out their jobs with all sense of responsibility. Such gesture should be extended to other future elections, especially the forthcoming Ondo State election.
“We want to call on President Buhari, for the sake of leaving a good legacy of free and fair election, to also ensure that, the good people of Ondo State are allowed to choose their governor without undue interference in favour of the incumbent, governor Rotimi Akeredolu”
While coamending all the candidates who contested in the election for showing maturity, ADP called on the winner, Godwin Obaseki to extend an olive branch to all his co-contestants for the sake of smooth leadership in Edo State.
