Worried by the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini’s allegation that the losers of the just concluded general elections were plotting his death, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has waded in, urging security agencies to investigate the matter.
The APC had rejected the outcome of the polls in which the PDP was declared winner in virtually all elective positions, alleging that Igini compromised in the conduct and delivery of the exercise.
Since then, Igini has been raising the alarm over alleged threats to kill him, saying: “the losers of the election are planning to bomb me.”
According to Igini, the conduct and delivery of the polls was in line with international best practices and urged losers to seek redress in court.
Describing the situation as unhealthy, the CNPP leaders rose from their enlarged meeting held at the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Uyo, at the weekend, to condemn the development and impress it on the Police and other security agencies to investigate.
