The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state has won the chairmanship positions in all the 23 local government areas (LGAs) as well as the 276 councillorship positions in the state at the council polls held on Saturday.

The Chairman, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Tersoo Loko, disclosed this while announcing results of the Saturday elections in Makurdi on Sunday.

Even though he announced the detailed results of the chairmanship elections, he noted that the Commission would present the full details of the councillorship elections at a later date.

In a brief address at the BSIEC, Loko said, “Elections took place in all the 3,691 polling units in the state, (as well as) 276 council wards across the 23 local governments of the state.

“In all, five political parties participated in the whole process. By the powers conferred on me as the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, I announce the results.”

It was following this that Loko reeled out the results of all the Chairmen-elect and Councillors-elect.

The BSIEC Chairman is expected to present the Chairmen-elect and Councillors-elect with their certificate of returns at the BSIEC headquarters, Makurdi today (Monday).
