Supporters of Senator Abdul Ningi and those of former FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, clashed at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Bauchi on Saturday.
The youths disrupted a PDP meeting following comments from Mohammed’s supporters against Ningi over 2019 election.
The meeting had to be halted as the rivals resisted attempt by security personnel to calm them.
The PDP state chairman Hamza Kushe Akuyam condemned the incident and described the development as a set back to the party ahead of the general elections
“We would not allow disgruntled elements to disorganise and frustrate our genuine commitment towards restoring our party to power in 2019”, said Akuyam.
Meanwhile, Ningi and Mohammed, both PDP governorship aspirants, have declared that their supporters were not responsible for clash.
They added that those who disrupted the gathering were bag eggs sponsored to give PDP a bad name.
