Rev. Mathias Echioda, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger chapter, has called on Nigerians to work for the nation’s unity to achieve the desired political growth in the country.

Echioda in Minna on Tuesday said that Nigerians should use this trying time to unite and contribute to the upliftment of the country.

He called for patience among the followers and leaders in the quest to move the country away from the challenges bedevilling it due to past mistakes.

“The unity we have with God should translate to the unity we have with one another irrespective of tribe, religious, ethnic and political differences.

“It is important for all of us to know that we are stronger together and have to remain as one for our common good,’’ he said.

Echioda pleaded with leaders of the two major religions in Nigeria to devote time to pray for Nigerian leaders to govern with the fear of God at all times.

He also urged elected leaders to implement policies and programmes that would be of benefit to the majority of people that voted them into power.
