Tension as farmer shot dead in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration has raised alarm over rising cases of insecurity and vandalism in the territory. Abuja

Tension is mounting in the Dobi community of Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after a farmer, Sule Motunye Dabena, was shot dead in the area.

A brother of the deceased, Yakubu Dabena, said he was murdered while working on his farm on Wednesday afternoon.

He said, “The family called him on his phone to know why he was holding up on the farm till 6:30 pm, but his phone, which rang, was not attended to.

“So we the family mobilised with vigilantes to the farm, where we found his body in a pool of his blood.”

The Chairman of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha Danze, asked security agents to fish out those behind the killing.

He added that security had been beefed up in the community to avert a reprisal and breakdown of law and order.

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, did not respond to an SMS on the incident.
