VP Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, was a man that loved his people, demonstrated genuine commitment to the progress of society and lived an accomplished life.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is on a state visit to Spain.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, are attending the council meeting.

Ministers at the meeting are those of Education, Adamu Adamu, Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, Labour, Chris Ngige, Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi and Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen.

Others ministers present at the meeting are those of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk, Health, Osagie Ehanire, Power, Abubakar Aliyu and Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu.

Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva and his counterparts in Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora and Labour, Festus Keyamo are also at the meeting.

At the last meeting on May 18, FEC approved N169.7billion for the reconstruction of four roads under the tax credit scheme.

The vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the meeting in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari who departed Abuja on Tuesday for Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP @50).

A virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has begun at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the meeting in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari who departed Abuja on Tuesday for Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP @50).

The secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the president, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; and Head of Service of the federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan are physically present at the meeting.

Ministers who are physically present at the meeting are those of Education, Adamu Adamu; Aviation, Hadi Sirika; Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen; and Attorney-General and Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Others are Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq; and Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba.

Others joined the meeting virtually in their various offices.

VP Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has stressed the need to drive more inclusive trade initiatives and expand intra-regional trade in the ECOWAS sub-region going by the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council(FEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is in London, UK, for a medical check-up after participating in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021 to 2025.

Ministers physically present at the virtual FEC meeting included Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, Abubakar Malami, Minister for Justice and Attorney-General and Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

Others were, Hajia Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education.

More so, Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Resources, Sabo Nanono.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President are also in attendance.

At the last meeting on July 14, FEC approved N8.6 billion for the construction of vaccine laboratory, text kits for HIV/AIDS and procurement of medical equipment.

VP Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has upheld argument by President Muhammadu Buhari that it lacked the jurisdiction to entertain allegation of corrupt practices and voters’ inducement raised against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the PDP.

A meeting of the Federal Executive Council has started in Abuja with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo presiding over proceedings.

It started at 11.02am at the State House, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is out of the country to the United States, where he is attending the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
